Tleń lies in Wdecki Landscape Park, by Lake Mukrza and the Żur Reservoir, inside the Tuchola Forest. In Prussian times it was called Luftkurort Klinger.
The Wda is a popular kayaking route here. The section near Tleń is calm and often chosen by beginners. Local kayak rentals and trip organisers provide transport.
Nearby places include Folwark Wierzchy and Dworzec Tleń, while Tuchola, the local capital of the Tuchola Forest, is about 30 km away. In summer, the beach by the Żur Reservoir is also open.
